It’s not sci-fi, it’s not Star Trek, all gleaming corridors and smart American people walking around sorting things out. Doctor Who is more crumbly than that, darker, more tobacco-stained and creepier….[it’s also] just great fun, a big daft popular TV show with lots of wonderful things in it that people either like or they don’t like or they pass through it and they like it occasionally.
